Reading A Reflection
In ‘Reading A Reflection’, Nicola Arthen translates generated images into a layered knitted collage. The Jacquard-knitted wall hanging, produced double-sided on a circular knitting machine, contains hidden reliefs and watermark-like elements that Arthen subtly embedded within the image. The panorama of wool, cotton, and filling yarn is hung diagonally on a steel frame, creating a space experienced as both architectural and intimate. Through this work, Arthen explores how human imagination and memory are shaped by generative AI technologies, while experimenting with wool for its cultural significance and natural process of degradation.
The work was exhibited at Platform in Stockholm, Sweden, from 13 November 2025 to 18 January 2026.
