KnitWind
Architect, civil engineer and researcher Erica Hörteborn worked on ‘KnitWind’, a research project that brought together textile, architecture and functional landscape interventions. With this project she built on her research at Chalmers University of Technology and launched her first large‑scale outdoor test of wind screens.
Hörteborn created large knitted textile works made entirely from hemp yarn. By combining two knitting techniques, she produced panels that move with the wind and subtly change form while maintaining a strong underlying structure.
In 2025, the first prototype, ‘KnitWind‑1’, was installed on the roof terrace of the Clarion Hotel Malmö Live as the start of a longer development trajectory.
