Apical Fusion 

In ‘Apical Fusion’, artist Diana Scherer shows what happens when you quite literally let textile work together with nature. She buries existing nets in the ground, allowing plant roots to grow through and “entangle” with them. This results in a remarkable hybrid material that is part fabric, part plant. 

For this series, Scherer developed new sustainable bases on computer‑controlled knitting machines, made from organic cotton yarns, linen yarns and recycled monofilament. 

One work was already on view at the Seoul Museum of Craft during Matter to Practice from 26 August to 23 November 2025.
