Developed in 2025

In 2024, artists Ayo, Ratri Notosudirdjo and Sandim Mendes were invited to conduct research into the historical museum collection of the Leidsche Katoenmaatschappij (LKM). The sample and recipe books, textile objects and archives of this textile factory form the foundation of the TextielMuseum collection. The factory produced imitation batiks for international trade, based on copying Indonesian patterns and cheaper mechanical production, making it part of a system of colonial exploitation. From a decolonial perspective, the artists created installations that break these colonial silences.

In 2027, the three installations will be exhibited together at the TextielMuseum.
