AkènesSpacer Weaves

For ‘Akènes: Spacer Weaves’, Juliette Rambour explored how weaving techniques can create volume. The project resulted in a collection of free-standing woven forms that emerge without stitching or assembly. The “akènes” are divided into four groups: ‘spacer akènes’, ‘volume akènes’, ‘alveolar akènes’, and ‘texture akènes’. Each group has its own type of volume, which takes shape during the weaving process. In the ‘spacer akènes’, for example, the polyester monofilament connecting thread moves between two layers, forming an airy internal skeleton.

‘Akènes: Spacer Weaves’ was exhibited at ENSAD in July 2025 and at ‘Master Pieces’ from 29 November to 4 January 2026 at the TextielMuseum.
